China's millennium leaning tower is hidden in Nanjing

This is a leaning tower with a thousand years of history, located within the Dinglin Temple in the Fangshan National Geopark in Nanjing. The Dinglin Temple Tower is situated at the northwest foot of Fangshan in Jiangning District, Nanjing, also known as the Fangshan Leaning Tower. The tower leans 7.59 degrees to the north, exceeding the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, and is known as the 'world's number one leaning tower'. The Dinglin Temple Tower was originally built in the ninth year of the Qiandao era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1173 AD). The tower is approximately 14.50 meters tall, a seven-story octagonal brick tower with a wood-like structure. The first and second floors are square inside, while the third floor and above are cylindrical. A wooden frame is set on the fifth floor to support the spire. The ground floor has a door only on the south side, with a stone-carved Sumisena in the center, and Buddha niches on the east, west, and north sides. All other floors have doors on all four sides. The tower body is built with bricks to imitate the wooden structure of columns and brackets. Due to years of disrepair, the waist eaves, tower top, and spire of the Dinglin Temple Tower have been destroyed. The tower leans 7.59 degrees to the north, and the top of the tower has deviated 1.6 meters from the center of the base, which is dangerously close to the 'death line' of 8 degrees. In 2003, the relevant departments carried out an emergency 'rectification' reinforcement of the Dinglin Temple Tower, binding it with steel plates and pulling the tower body with steel cables, reducing the lean from 7.5 degrees back to 5.35 degrees. Even so, it still exceeds the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.
