Xianse Palace

Xianse Palace was originally called "Temple of the King of Five Grains" or "Temple of the Former Emperor of Five Grains". It was first built in 1755, the 20th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of 270 years. The name "Xianse" is taken from the "Eight Wax Gods" worshipped by the ancient emperors. The first of the "Eight Wax Gods" is Xianse, the head of the agricultural gods, that is, Shennong. The main deity enshrined in the temple is Emperor Shennong, so the temple is named Xianse.
