　The Museum of Northern Peoples is a museum that has opened to the public the home of the Ito family, who were large landowners in Echigo, Niigata Prefecture. The two-story main house built in 1887, the garden, and the 150-year-old wisteria trellis spanning 80 tatami mats are magnificent. There are also interesting exhibits to see, such as artefacts from the Tang dynasty and exhibits relating to ancient Egypt.
