Best way to discover the Norvegian coastline

Forget the big polluting cruise ships, they will soon be banned from entering the fjords anyway. Take the Hurtigruten or the Havila ferries and cruise along the amazing Norvegian coast, from Kirkenes to Bergen. The southbound journey is not only cheaper but also quieter as people usually go from Bergen to Kirkenes. I highly recommend taking the smallest of the ferries, the Vesteralen, for a better experience as bigger ships tend to be more impersonal. Mid-May is for me the best time because you can see the midnight sun and it is before the start of the tourism season. Do take warm clothes though, it is still winter above the Polar Circle.
