Odawara Castle🏯 in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, was the home base of the Hojo clan, built at a key transportation point along the Tokaido road, and is known as an impregnable and invincible castle. It resisted Toyotomi Hideyoshi's unification of Japan to the end, and was surrounded by a 200,000-strong army led by Hideyoshi, surrendering after about three months of siege, but the castle was never taken by force.
