Rediscovering Osaka Castle

It's been 15 years since my last visit to Osaka Castle! This time, I took the opportunity of the Expo to revisit this iconic site. Upon entering, you'll first encounter the Hokoku Shrine, dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It's worth taking a moment to explore. Next, as you enter through the side gate of Osaka Castle, you'll come across the Time Capsule, which has been preserved since the year 2000 with the goal of being opened 5,000 years later! Looking up, you'll see Osaka Castle itself. After climbing to the top of the main tower (Tenshukaku), you can purchase a 'Castle Seal' as a souvenir. Since I made it to the top, I couldn't resist buying one! If you're planning to visit, I recommend purchasing a QR code ticket in advance through Trip to avoid long queues and gain quick access to the castle. One notable feature of Osaka Castle is its elevator. It's a good idea to take the elevator up to the fifth floor and then continue climbing to the top. This way, you can explore the main tower first and then gradually make your way down, which is less tiring. From the top of the main tower, you can enjoy panoramic views of Osaka, rivaling those from Tsutenkaku Tower. The floors also feature exhibits detailing the battles of the Summer and Winter Sieges of Osaka, offering a glimpse into the castle's historical grandeur. I exited through the North Gate, which provided a clear view of the moat and different perspectives of Osaka Castle. On the way, I passed by the Osaka Castle Plum Grove, which is worth a stroll. Additionally, there are sightseeing carts available for those who prefer a less strenuous visit. Currently, there are two types of carts to choose from, but unfortunately, I only had time to try one! Osaka Castle Park is truly a must-visit destination.
