The Centennial History of Osaka Castle and the Timeless Flavors of Crossfield Café

In 1931, Osaka Castle underwent a major renovation to celebrate Emperor Hirohito's enthronement! Thanks to the generous donation of 1.5 million yen from the public, the main tower was rebuilt, Osaka Castle Park was inaugurated, and even the headquarters of the Japanese Army's Fourth Division was constructed. After World War II, this building served as the Osaka City Police Headquarters and later became the Osaka Prefectural Police Headquarters. From 1960 to 2001, it transformed into the Osaka Municipal Museum—a truly eventful history! We had lunch at Crossfield Café, which used to be the VIP room for welcoming the Emperor! Besides afternoon tea and desserts, they also serve simple dishes like pasta and risotto. Unfortunately, the terrace lounge is closed, so we couldn’t sit outside to enjoy the breeze and the view 😢. Savoring a char siu rice ball and sipping on roasted tea latte, paired with the rich historical ambiance of Osaka Castle, this meal truly felt like a journey through time.
