Vigeland Statue Park in Oslo, Norway

Vigeland is a group of statues located in Frogner Park in Oslo. Named after the artist who sculpted them, Gustav Vigeland, the sculpture series was created between the 1920s and 1943. As part of Frogner, the Vigeland Sculpture Group was approved to be protected by the National Cultural Heritage Law on February 13, 2009 in accordance with the "Cultural Heritage Law". The statue complex covers an area of 320 acres and has a total of 214 sculptures, 13 wrought iron gates, two bronze doors on the gatehouse and two weather vanes. All the statues were built by the park based on Vigeland's design drawings and models. The central axis of the statue complex is 850 meters long, along which the statues are divided into five larger units: The statue facilities contain most of the artist's works. The statues are made of bronze, granite and wrought iron. The park contains nearly 600 statues of human figures. The artist himself made full-size models of all the statues, while the granite carving and bronze casting were done by skilled craftsmen. Construction of the park took decades and was not completed until around 1950. The City of Oslo borne the largest costs, but a number of individuals also provided grants. The most representative statues are: The "Fountain" (left side of Figure 1), designed in 1909, was finally completed in 1924. The monument consists of a group of statues, with a group of statues and reliefs on the base. Standing at the highest point of the park, the more than 17-meter-high circular stone column is one of the central works of Vigeland's installation, which consists of 121 statues of figures. The “Wheel of Life” (Fig. 5) is cast in bronze and was modeled in 1933-34 and constructed in 1949. The bronze "Angry Boy" is the most famous statue in the park. It was modeled in 1928 and completed in 1940. The sculpture has been vandalized and stolen many times since it was built. #OverseasTravel #NorwayTravel #NorwayTourism #NorwayAttractions #I miss Norway so much #Oslo #Park #Statue #Giant Bronze Humanoid Statue #norway
