Wuzhishi Scenic Area: Majestic, Dangerous, Unique, Beautiful, Secluded, and Ancient (Part 1)

Wuzhishi Scenic Area (AAAA) is located in Chagan Town, 57 km north of Pingyuan County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, at the junction of Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Fujian provinces. It is a famous Danxia landform tourist destination in eastern Guangdong. The scenic area covers 13.6 square kilometers and includes the Wuzhishi Core Leisure Area, the High-altitude Walkway Sightseeing Area (accessible by sightseeing bus), and the Glass Walkway (accessible by cable car). Wuzhishi is mainly composed of Baoding Stone (thumb), Luohan Stone (index finger), Tianzhu Stone (middle finger), Jianglong Stone (ring finger), and Baogai Stone (little finger), which resemble five fingers. The scenic area is home to original ecological landscapes such as "Danxia landform, forest ecology, cultural relics, and walkway wonders," as well as "strange stones, strange cracks, strange vines, strange trees, and strange caves," and is characterized by majesty, danger, uniqueness, beauty, seclusion, and antiquity. Meizhou's only geological museum is located in Wuzhishi Scenic Area. Unfortunately, it was closed when we visited, which was a bit of a shame! If you plan to visit Wuzhishi Scenic Area, we recommend purchasing the "Wuzhi Yue Mei Hot Spring Resort + Double Wuzhishi Scenic Area Pass (including sightseeing bus and cable car) Package" on Trip.com. When we bought it (Feb 21–22, 2023), it was only ¥382 (including 3 breakfasts), and it's not much more expensive now. It's really cheap! The adult package for Wuzhishi Scenic Area is ¥145, so two tickets would be ¥290. The hotel is located at No. 2, Shanji Avenue, Chagan Town, very close to Wuzhishi Scenic Area. We walked from the hotel to Wuzhishi Scenic Area. Even now (2025), there are still different discount packages available on Trip.com.
