Huge Neapolitan Pizza for Cheap

I recently visited L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Bergamo, and overall, it was a memorable experience. Having heard about the legendary status of the original Naples location, I was excited to try their pizza closer to home. The interior of the Bergamo branch is spacious and stylish, with a modern twist that still hints at the pizzeria’s traditional roots. The menu sticks to the classics, which I appreciate—sometimes less is more. I went for the Margherita, and it was just what I hoped for: a soft, slightly chewy crust with a perfect balance of tangy tomato sauce and melted mozzarella. The portion was generous, true to the famous “pizza a ruota di carro” style. That said, service could use a bit of improvement. It wasn’t bad, but it felt a bit disorganized, especially during busy hours. There was a bit of a wait for the pizza, but thankfully, it was worth it. The staff were friendly, though not particularly attentive. In short, if you’re in Bergamo and craving authentic Neapolitan pizza, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is definitely worth a try. It’s not quite the magic of Naples, but it comes very close—and that’s already saying a lot.
