Quzhou Confucius Cultural Park, the source of the ancient city and a cultural sanctuary

Opposite the Quzhou Nanzong Confucius Temple is the Confucius Cultural Park, also known as Fushan Park, where a tall statue of Confucius stands. The park is located in Fushan, in the southeast corner of the ancient city of Quzhou, and consists of Zhengrong Mountain and Guifeng Mountain. Zhengrong Mountain was named after Chai Hong of the Western Han Dynasty who stationed troops here, and Guifeng was named because the mountain is shaped like a turtle. The two mountains are closely connected, with an altitude of only more than 70 meters. From the fourth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (621 AD) to the Republic of China period, this was the location of the government office of Quzhou Prefecture, so people called it "Fushan". In 1928, Zhongshan Park was built on the northern foot of Fushan Mountain, where ancient trees are towering and forests are lush. It was destroyed when the Japanese army invaded Quzhou. In 1957, the park was rebuilt on the original site and renamed Fushan Park, covering an area of ​​about 45 acres. Today's Confucius Cultural Park covers an area of ​​300 acres and is divided into five scenic areas: the temple front area, the six arts heritage area, the memorial garden area, the zither calligraphy and painting area, and the Fudong area. It has been rated as a national key park. After years of expansion, the Confucius Cultural Park now has Zhongshan Pavilion, the ruins of the government office, the statue of Confucius and Confucius Teaching Square, Zhongling Pagoda, Zhengyi Academy, Pingshan Pavilion, Huanying Pavilion, Ailian Pond, Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, Catholic Church, Drum Tower and other attractions. "The water ends at Qucheng, and plum blossoms grow on the ridge." The garden is lush with trees, green grass, and winding paths. There are tens of thousands of ancient and famous trees, covering the sky and blocking out the sun; the pavilions and towers are quaint and the scenery changes with every step. Here, plum blossoms and crabapples herald the arrival of spring, crape myrtles and hydrangeas compete for beauty in summer, osmanthus and chrysanthemums fill the air in autumn, and wintersweets and snowflakes complement each other in winter. The statue of Confucius stands on the Zhengrong Mountain. The statue is made of bronze, with a total height of 15 meters, a height of 9 meters, and weighs 15 tons. It was created by Wu Weishan, the director of the China Sculpture Academy, and the base was written by Jao Zongyi, the former president of the Xiling Seal Society. The statue faces the ancestral temple of the Southern Sect of Confucius.
