Ramsau

Ramsau is located in the western part of the Berchtesgaden region, extending deep into the Alps. Surrounded by mountains and mirrored by clear waters, it is renowned for Hintersee (also known as Hinter Lake), the Zauberwald (Magic Forest), and the Parish Church of St. Sebastian (Pfarrkirche St. Sebastian). Today, it is a paradise for photographers, while in the 19th century, it was a haven for painters. A 'Painters' Path of Ramsau' records the Bavarian natural scenery and local customs captured by Romantic painters of the 19th century with their brushes. The unique landslide scenery of the Magic Forest was created by a massive rock collapse 3500 years ago, and the picturesque Hintersee is a dammed lake formed by a landslide. Faced with such incredible sights, one can only marvel that only the hands of the Creator could paint such a magnificent and fantastical picture.
