Rome City Walk: The Secret Crypt of a Baroque Masterpiece! 🤫⛪

#summervacay I want to share one of my absolute favorite little churches with you all: San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane (Chiesa di San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane), located at the intersection of the Four Fountains (Quattro Fontane) in central Rome. You probably won't stumble upon this church by accident on a typical walking tour of the city center unless you get a little lost, but it's actually not far from the Presidential Palace and the ancient city. The closest metro station is Barberini on Line A. From there, just follow your navigation up a small slope, and you'll arrive. The intersection where the church stands is known as "Quattro Fontane" (Four Fountains) because, well, it has fountains on all four sides! This architectural gem was built by Francesco Borromini (born in Bissone, near Lake Lugano, in 1599) between 1634 and 1644. It's truly a pearl of Roman Baroque architecture, showcasing incredible design and intricate details.
