Capella Sanya is currently the undisputed leader among Sanya's luxury resorts. Mornings and evenings at Capella Sanya are each greeted with unique rituals. In the morning, guests can watch a Tai Chi master perform this traditional Chinese wellness exercise by the evocative Star Pool, experiencing the energy of this ancient practice. 1. This is Capella Sanya's most distinctive way of welcoming a new day. The Tai Chi master, positioned in the center of the pool, initiates the dawn with graceful yet powerful movements. As the Tai Chi unfolds, the vast lobby water curtain begins to flow and circulate, creating a visually stunning and evocative scene. 2. I absolutely adore this scene in the hotel lobby, imbued with the philosophy of Feng Shui. The central water system rises to the "dome," then descends to form a "water curtain," creating a harmonious space filled with vitality, positive energy, and the promise of prosperity and fortune. 3. The circular top of the Star Pool contrasts with the square pool below, symbolizing the traditional Chinese concept of "天圆地方" (a round heaven and a square earth). The "square" represents the earth, its vastness and inclusiveness, symbolizing "harvest," "abundance," and "nourishment." The "circle" is a symbol in traditional Chinese culture, representing "completeness," "unity," "perfection," and "reunion." This is the official design concept. My own interpretation is that everything between heaven and earth is in a constant cycle of balance, with all things nurturing and promoting each other's growth. 4. Admiring the ingenious design of Jean-Michel Gathy, benches and seats are placed beneath the Star Pool, allowing guests to relax at any time. During the day, they can look up and see the sky through the ceiling, while at night, they can gaze upon the tranquil stars. The outside world connects with the guests through this interplay of square and circle. 5. The evening ritual takes place in the hotel's "Living Room and Library Bar," where guests of all room types can relax and unwind. The nightly ritual begins around 6:30 pm, with the host opening the Silk Road book and map, recounting the history, traditions, and characteristics of each stop along the historical Maritime Silk Road. 6. This is my second stay here. Last time, I stayed in the Ocean View Pavilion, with a spacious layout starting at 88 square meters (the base room type also starts at 88 square meters), which is truly luxurious and elegant. The designer's extensive use of natural wood and earth tones creates a warm and peaceful atmosphere in the living space, perfect for a relaxing vacation. Building upon this color scheme, bold accents of mustard yellow and vermilion red add brightness and a touch of modern flair. From the interior materials and guest amenities to the hardware, everything is meticulously chosen. TWG tea bags in various flavors are generously provided, Diptyque toiletries are stocked, and the sound system is by Aulux. 7. The hotel truly achieves ultra-low density in its spatial design. With only 190 rooms spread across 13.8 hectares of tropical paradise, it aims to provide guests with a rare sense of spaciousness, completely free from any feeling of crowding or confinement. This "wasted" space is, in fact, a gift to the guests. 8. The landscaping in the hotel's public areas is a feast for the eyes, with exquisite details and thoughtful touches at every turn. Jean-Michel Gathy, in collaboration with landscape design master Bill Bensley, has transformed the hotel into a work of art, replete with geometry, lines, light and shadow, water features, gardens, and a blend of human touch and nature. Its beauty is beyond words.
