Royal Palace Museum of Brazil

[Royal Palace Museum], the former palace of Pedro I, the founding emperor of Brazil, is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Pedro was born into the Portuguese royal family. Since Brazil was discovered by Portuguese navigators, it has been the largest and richest colony of the Kingdom of Portugal. He served as regent of Brazil and was deeply loved by the people during his tenure. In 1822 he officially declared Brazil's independence from Portugal and created the Brazilian Empire!
