Segovia Aqueduct…a Spanish icon

Time seemed to be getting closer and closer to leaving Spain. I felt a sense of loss as if I had been here for days. The first destination of the day was Segovia, a beautiful aqueduct city, only 70km from the hotel in Avila, taking 1hr 1min according to Google Maps. The small, narrow roads were like small town connecting roads, not on the expressway. When I arrived, it was another old city on the mountain. This city was very lively, full of tourists, like many large tour buses. I drove as the Navigator told me to. It went up the mountain until the highest point, with no parking. I drove around and around until I saw a small church in a side street. There was a parking lot in front of the church, no cars or people, so I quickly went in and parked. I walked around the area, but there was no one to ask, so I thought that if I got fined, I would pay because there really was no parking. This place is a major tourist attraction, a highlight of Spain, and you definitely shouldn't miss it. So I parked my car, feeling a bit uneasy. I wasn't afraid of the fine, but I was afraid that when I got back, my wheels would be locked or stolen. 😱 I walked around and took pictures with other tourists. I didn't go into the church or any other places. I only took pictures from the outside. And then walked to the famous ancient aqueduct. It looked really magnificent. They say that each stone is stacked without a steel frame. It must be strong and well-placed to have lasted for thousands of years. Walked down to take pictures below and found that it was a parking lot. The tour buses were parked everywhere. But at that time, I didn't know how to get here. Climbed up to the top and took pictures from every angle. Then walked back to the parking lot... It was still in good condition. It was a relief. Drove down the hill and came out at the aqueduct that I had just been to. Then went down the hill out of town to the accommodation in Zaragoza. #segovia #spain #europe
