Stroll at Hwanguji Coast

#aprilblooms We recently took an stroll at Hwanguji Coast, and it was a truly peaceful experience. The parking was ample, and as it was late in the day, there weren't many people around, which made for a very relaxed atmosphere. Hwanguji Coast is known as a snorkeling hotspot, particularly for its "fairy pond" (Seonnyeotang). While we didn't go snorkeling this time, it was clear that the area is beautiful and worth visiting even just for a walk. We even had some fun taking photos with the unique, pineapple-like trees that grow there! We also noticed that there were citrus farm ์ฒดํ—˜ (experience) centers and other similar attractions nearby. Although they were closed due to the late hour, we thought it would be nice to visit them next time. Interestingly, we learned that the "12 Donggul" (caves) at Hwanguji have a historical significance, having been built by the Japanese military to hide self-destructing torpedo boats. Knowing this history adds a layer of somberness to what otherwise appears to be a beautiful natural landscape, highlighting the hardships faced by the people of Jeju. From a distance, we could see the famous Seonnyeotang (fairy pond). I have fond memories of snorkeling there with friends on a previous trip to Jeju, and it still looked as stunning as I remembered. We attempted to find the path down, but with the fading light and unclear directions, we decided to simply admire it from afar. Overall, Hwanguji Coast offers a lovely blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Whether you're looking to snorkel in the clear waters of Seonnyeotang or simply enjoy a quiet walk along the coast, it's a worthwhile destination in Jeju. We're already considering a return visit to explore the nearby ์ฒดํ—˜ centers! #photography #naturalwonders
