Lingang Quest 5: MGLab

Tongji University’s State Key Laboratory for Marine Geology is a state-of-the-art lab in China, located in Lingang area. This laboratory facilities include two main buildings, the China National Scientific Seafloor Observatory, many fully-emptied laboratories, and a new wing that will become fully available in the next few months. MGLab is the China hub for IODP (International Ocean Discovery Program), which is the largest international collaborative research program on earth sciences and deep ocean. MGLab is also one of the main research centers for marine sciences in China. Additionally, has an awarded outreach program that included the Deep-Sea Pavilion with scientific exhibitions for children and general public. MGLab has many study-tours to students, academia and institutions, to promote and inspire new generations in marine based science and technology. The facilities were recently remodeled, includes now few lodge rooms and resting areas. Tours allow students to admire firsthand how marine researchers do their different tasks. Although most tours are in Chinese, MGLab also has English tours.
