#yunnanguide 🥾 Hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge: 2 Days of Breathtaking Beauty Being one of the deepest gorge in the world, Tiger Leaping Gorge (or called Hutiaoxia) 🐯 sitting at the border of Lijiang and Shangri-La is a paradise for hiking. We spend two days and one unforgettable night, the trail gave us everything: epic views, challenging paths, and a peaceful night high above the Yangtze River.🏞️ We started our journey from Lijiang, a few hours away by road, and hit the Upper Gorge trail in the late morning. From the very first step, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking 🍀⛰️— towering cliffs, endless switchbacks, and deep turquoise river views below. The trail is a mix of gradual ascents and more intense climbs, including the infamous 28 bends, which definitely tested our legs but rewarded us with jaw-dropping views over the gorge. It felt like walking through a landscape painting.🌿🏔️ By late afternoon, we arrived at the Tea Horse Guesthouse🏠where we spent the night. The guesthouse is simple but cozy, with warm food, friendly hosts, and — best of all — a panoramic view straight out of a dream. Watching the sunset from the terrace, with the mountains silhouetted against a golden sky, was one of the highlights of the whole trip. On day two, we set off again, hiking through more stunning stretches of the trail. The air was crisp, the mountains majestic, and the path peaceful. We reached Tina’s Guesthouse by around 2 PM, just in time to rest, grab a quick bite, and catch the 3:30 PM bus to Shangri-La. This short trek was the perfect balance of challenge and reward.
