| The ideal place made real. Before arriving here, my entire understanding of "Shangri-La" was just a name on the map, a legendary paradise beyond the world. But when I truly stepped onto this land and stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel, I realized that the "ideal place" can be touched, felt, and even lived in a dream. 🏔 Living in the morning light of the plateau The room window opens to snow-capped mountains and fields, the air so crisp it feels like it has just been washed by snow, and every breath tastes a little sweet. Waking up early, the sky is unbelievably blue, and the sunlight pours generously through the window. I brewed a pot of tea and sat by the window, lost in thought for a long time—turns out the distance isn’t far at all, as long as you’re willing to walk a purer path. 💨 A truly plateau-friendly hotel The biggest fear when first going to the plateau is altitude sickness, but the Shangri-La Hotel’s attention to detail is exceptionally gentle. 📌 Each room is equipped with an oxygen supply system 📌 Upon check-in, they thoughtfully offer saffron tea and warm ginger soup 📌 The room humidity is perfectly controlled, making for a very peaceful sleep at night For someone like me, a "first-timer on the plateau," it’s really very friendly. 🍽 Eating with peace of mind in Tibetan land Breakfast is a mix of Tibetan and Chinese flavors, with tsampa, butter tea, and yak yogurt all available. I especially love the yak milk millet porridge, warm and soft, very much like the taste of this land. In the afternoon, you can go to the hotel’s outdoor garden café, order a hot maca latte, and watch the daylight slowly stretch behind Meili Snow Mountain— Slowness is the most luxurious rhythm in Shangri-La. 🕯 Staying at Shambhala | A small purification of the soul The hotel is close to Dukezong Ancient Town, just a ten-minute walk to see prayer wheels slowly turning, monks passing by weathered corners, and incense smoke rising. I love the quietness here at night, as if the whole city is whispering to you. The night in Shangri-La is a night where you can hear your heartbeat. 📝 Tips: 📍 Address: Downtown Shangri-La, about a 10-minute walk from Dukezong Ancient Town 🧳 Recommended room type: Scenic rooms with views of snow mountains or the city skyline 💨 Friends afraid of altitude sickness can prioritize oxygen rooms and inform the hotel in advance to prepare oxygen tanks 🍽 The hotel restaurant, hot pot, and Tibetan cuisine are all worth trying; it’s recommended to have at least one meal inside the hotel 📸 Photo spots: Outdoor garden rooftop, in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the room, Tibetan-style archway at the hotel entrance 📷 In Shangri-La, I didn’t chase any scenery, but finally, on this journey, I slowly had a good time with myself. During the days I stayed here, I increasingly believed that the real Shangri-La is never just a destination, but a state: quiet, abundant, and free.
