A rainy day at Former Residence of Wang Yangming and Lanting Scenic Area.

Today is the penultimate day of our Shaoxing trip. After breakfast, we visited the Former Residence of Fan Wenlan in Shaoxing Hotel. I guess many people don't know this famous historian. Then, we went straight to Former Residence of Wang Yangming along Xixiaolu. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with Former Residence of Wang Yangming. It covers a large area, but almost all the buildings are new, except for the stone gate. The memorial hall is newly built, but the introduction to the "School of Mind" is not deep enough. We spent CNY 70, but the visit was over in less than an hour. We had lunch at a restaurant near Wang Gong Bridge. The location is great, and the service is also very good. We originally planned to visit Cangqiao Straight Street today, but we had already been there twice in the past few days, so we changed our plan to visit Lanting Scenic Area. This attraction is not close to the city center. It takes about 40 minutes by bus. It has been drizzling in Shaoxing these days, which affects sightseeing and taking photos. Lanting covers a large area, but there are only a few places worth visiting. After a quick visit, we took the bus back to the city center. We are going home tomorrow, so we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner and ordered a bottle of Guyue Longshan Vintage Wine. The Kuaiyuange Chinese Restaurant in Shaoxing Hotel is quite reliable. Our 5-day Shaoxing trip is over. Looking back, Shaoxing is a little different from other Jiangnan cities like Yangzhou and Suzhou. Although the city is not so exquisite and there are few classical gardens, the city is full of life. Even though many streets are filled with the smell of stinky tofu, when you quietly savor this Jiangnan city, you may find that Shaoxing is supposed to be like this.
