Shirakawa-go 🍁⛩️🍂An old World Heritage village in Japan in the fall foliage season. Located on the mountains of Gifu and Toyama prefectures in central Honshu, it consists of houses that are over 200-300 years old, spread out north-south along a narrow plain parallel to the Shokawa River. 🍁🛖🍁Gassho-zukuri houses, which are ancient farmhouses that are over 250 years old, have a special characteristic of being traditional Japanese houses. They were built without nails. The name comes from the word "Gassho", which means hands clasped together, according to the shape of the house with a 60-degree steep roof that looks like two hands clasped together to allow snow and rain to flow down to the ground below.
