Shizuoka Sengen Shrine

This historical shrine is the largest shrine in Shizuoka Prefecture. In the precinct, seven deities are enshrined in three shrines that make up Shizuoka Sengen Jinja. Many halls are coated with vivid red lacquer varnish. These amazing buildings are designated as Important Cultural Properties. Among the many remarkable buildings, a hall called Dai-haiden (main hall) is the most impressive. The building is the largest wooden shrine structure in Japan. This shrine is walking distance from the Shizuoka station. Maybe 20 minutes depending on your walking speed. There is a great walking area with lots of rest points and an amazing view of Fuji (on days when the paper mill smog does not block your view). In 2024, I want to go to Shizuoka again. #2024wish
