Shodoshima is the largest island in the Seto Inland Sea that participates in the art festival. There are extensive bus routes to various areas. Compared to Ogijima, this place is much more populated and the islanders are like city people, lacking the simplicity and friendliness of Ogijima. When you arrive at Tonosho Port in Shodoshima, the first landmark you see is the work "Gift from the Sun" by Korean artist Choi Jeong-hwa. It stands at Tonosho Port like a welcome, and is a must-visit spot for tourists. The art festival works are scattered all over Shodoshima, so it is most convenient to visit them all by car. If you take the bus, you have to give up something. During the art festival, an additional "Art Festival Line" will be added on the island to visit several key locations of the art festival. You only need to purchase a full-day ticket for 1,000 yen at Tonosho Port to take all bus routes throughout the day. The Art Festival Line bus then went up the mountain to Hitoyama to look for a bamboo work called "The Light of Shodoshima", which is the second work of Taiwanese artist Wang Wenzhi in Shodoshima. In 2010, he created "Home in Shodoshima". The five thousand bamboos needed to build the bamboo house had to be transported and made by the residents of Feitushan and Zhongshan villages. A giant dome theater was built in the middle of the bamboo house with a round hole at the top to let in light. Kusakabe Port is the westernmost place I visited on Shodoshima. After tasting the delicious Gelato, I walked back two stops on the "Art Festival Line" and got off at the entrance of Shodoshima Olive Park. This park is planted with many olive trees and a Greek windmill. This scenery is the landmark of Shodoshima. After taking the last "Art Festival Line", it was time to return to the hotel in Tonosho Port. Tuzhuang Port is quiet at night, with few people and it is not easy to find a restaurant for dinner.
