The City of Temples: Siem Reap and Angkor Wat

🌳 After a six-hour bus ride to Siem Reap, Cambodia, I arrived at night. I stayed at the Grand Sokhalay Hotel in Siem Reap and visited Angkor Wat the next day. 🔮 Perhaps because tourism revenue plays a significant role, my first impression was that the site was well-maintained. Crossing the bridge over the wide moat, I entered the temple. 🌲 The view of Angkor Wat reflected in the water is a popular photo spot, so I took some pictures and explored the temple. There were so many tourists that I had to queue to see the sights and climb up and down the steps. Despite the heat and exhaustion, it was truly a magnificent temple. 🦋 Siem Reap is home to many temples, but I couldn’t visit them all. Instead, I toured a few famous ones, traveling between them by tuk-tuk. Riding in a tuk-tuk was refreshing as the breeze was very pleasant. 🏞️ I visited temples like Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants, and Ta Prohm Temple. Exhausted from the heat, I returned to the hotel early to relax by the pool and enjoy a hotel staycation. 🌲 In the evening, I dined at a theater-style restaurant while watching a traditional Cambodian performance. Later, I went to Pub Street and visited the Red Piano, a place Angelina Jolie frequented, where I enjoyed pizza and drinks. I also browsed souvenirs in the lively street filled with massage shops, cafes, and pubs.
