Jewel Changi Food Hunt

Jewel Changi is indeed a great place worth spending half a day exploring. I decided to spend a few hours here before my return flight for one last adventure. I dined at a restaurant called Hainan Treasure, a chain in Singapore. I chose this place because I hadn't had Hainanese chicken rice throughout my trip, which seemed a bit unreasonable. The menu, designed like a newspaper, perhaps aims to evoke a nostalgic Hainanese feel. The food choices were more extensive than I expected, including Hainanese chicken rice/porridge, laksa, curry rice, and braised noodles. Surprisingly, they also offered egg tarts and pandan roll cakes. I came specifically for the Hainanese chicken rice, so I didn't consider other options. The chicken was pale, a common presentation in Singapore. One bite revealed thin, crispy skin and tender, smooth meat. The fragrant oily rice was accompanied by a single sour and spicy sauce, perfect for mixing with the rice. The dumpling skins were smooth, and the taste was decent, but I still believe they taste better in Hong Kong. For drinks, I ordered the Hainanese Trio, a surprisingly well-balanced mix of coffee, tea, and Milo. It made me want to buy a can of Milo powder to recreate the drink back home.
