First Designer Library in Orchard

Library@Orchard is a free entry library for everyone. You can even borrow books for free too. Just use your NRIC or birth certificates to sign up for free. Foreigners in Singapore under various ICA/MOM passes schemes can also sign up to be a member. Then you can use the self-checkout to borrow books. Libraby@Orchard is an art by itself. It is a designer library which comprises lifestyle, ensign and applied arts. I have no idea what that is until I step inside. To my discovery, the bookshelves at Library@Orchard are unique. It is something which I have never seen before. It is for sure designed for users and entices new users to visit the library often. From the website: “The curved bookshelves, the buffed bamboo floor and the bespoke reading cocoons, she said, were all firsts for Singapore’s public libraries.” It is really an eye-opener for the public free access library to be so unique and taking up prime space in Orchard Road.
