Affordable French Asian Lunch at The Venus!

The Venus is a new restaurant along South Bridge Road, offering contemporary French cuisine with a hint of Asian flavours 🍽 As a fan of fusion food, I was enticed by their weekday lunch set, which is affordably priced at $28++/$38++ for 2 or 3 courses! Take your pick from a tempting selection of some of their signature dishes~ For my starter, I chose the [Har Cheong Kai] 🐓 This came with crispy golden chicken chunks that were well marinated with shrimp paste, sitting on a blob of garlic aioli and elevated with goji berry jam and caviar 😋 These are seriously addictive to snack on, and I really liked how the light sweetness from the goji berry complemented the umami prawn paste! For my main course, I topped up $5 to try the [Fragrance Oil Confit Duck Leg] because I read good reviews online, and it was totally worth it! 🦆 The duck leg was cooked to a nice inner tenderness, and the outer skin was so thin and crisp, flavourful with a chilli layer that reminded me of Lao Gan Ma Chilli 🌶 I enjoyed the roasted vegetables in the split jus, and the crushed potatoes were a nice balance of mashed and chunky 🥔 Dessert was a plump [Profiterole] with a nice craquelin top, filled with milk oolong cream! 🫖 It was served with a side of light chantilly cream, with brittle honey nutty shards stuck into it 🍯 It was fine but I wish the oolong taste could have been a little stronger! 📍 The Venus SG 198 South Bridge Rd, Singapore 058747 #musteat #food #singapore
