Balkan Peninsula 13 days: Take in the stunning scenery of Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia!

This trip to the Balkan Peninsula from March 2 to March 14, 2023 really opened my eyes! Traveling to Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia at once, every day was like opening a surprise package, full of anticipation. Looking back now, I still feel so excited and can’t wait to share my experience with you! Croatia 1. Plitvice Lakes National Park: This is like a fairyland on earth! Although there is still a bit of winter in early March, the cascading lakes and waterfalls, coupled with the tranquil forest, are so beautiful that it leaves you speechless. I suggest that you stay here for a while and enjoy this masterpiece of nature. 2. The Girl with the Seagull: Located on the seaside in Opatija, it is a classic landmark of Croatia. Walking along the beach, looking at the statue of the girl and the seagull, and listening to the sound of waves hitting the shore, it is so romantic! 3. Rastoke: This small village is famous for its waterwheels and waterfalls. The scenery is very special, it is like a scene from a fairy tale. Walking in the village, watching the slow motion of the waterwheel and listening to the gurgling water, I felt relaxed. 4. Sea Organ: Located on the seashore in Zadar, it is a cool art installation. When the waves hit the sea organ, different sounds are made, which is amazing! Sitting on the beach, listening to the performance of the sea organ, and watching the beautiful sunset, this is life! 5. Krka National Park: This national park is famous for its waterfalls and lakes. Although the water volume may not be large in early March, the scenery is still spectacular. Here you can enjoy nature and breathe fresh air, it's super comfortable! 6. St. James Cathedral: Located in Šibenik, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The architecture of this church is super magnificent, and every detail is so exquisite. You must go in and appreciate it. 7. Diocletian's Palace: Located in Split, it was a royal palace built during the Roman Empire and is now the center of the city. Walking in the palace, feeling the traces of history, it feels like traveling through time and space. 8. Ston: Famous for its Great Wall and oysters. Of course you have to eat fresh oysters when you come here! I also went hiking at the Great Wall and enjoyed the views from up high, it was totally worth it! 9. Dubrovnik: This ancient city, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic", is well-deserved of its reputation. Walking on the city wall and looking at the red-tiled roofs and the blue Adriatic Sea is so beautiful that it leaves you speechless. Slovenia 1. Dragon Bridge: Located in Ljubljana, it is the representative of the city. The dragon statue on the bridge is very impressive, be sure to take a photo here. 2. Bled Castle: This medieval castle stands on the cliff of Lake Bled. From the castle you can overlook the entire lake area. The scenery is super beautiful! 3. Lake Bled: There is a small island in the middle of the lake with a church on it. You can take a boat to visit it. The scenery of lakes and mountains is so beautiful that you don’t want to leave. 4. Postojna Cave: One of the largest stalactite caves in Europe. It is super exciting to take a small train to explore! The scenery inside is truly breathtaking, nature is truly amazing! 5. Piran: This Italian-style seaside town is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Eating ice cream on the beach and looking at the sea view is so chill! 6. Motovun-Montona: This mountain town is famous for its truffles. Of course, you have to taste truffle dishes when you come here! I also bought some truffle products as souvenirs and planned to share them with my friends when I get home. Bosnia 1. Stari Most: This bridge is the symbol of Mostar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Standing on the bridge, looking at the Neretva River under the bridge, feeling the traces of history, I feel complicated. 2. Baščaršija: Located in Sarajevo, it is a market from the Ottoman Empire period, full of exotic atmosphere. Here you can taste traditional Bosnian food and experience the local culture. Summary This trip to the Balkan Peninsula really allowed me to see a lot of different landscapes and experience different cultures. Although every day was packed with itineraries and a bit tiring, every place left a deep impression on me and I felt it was totally worth it!
