Asian Bistro p.i stand in Koenji, Tokyo

Located just a 3-minute walk from Koenji Station, p.i stand opened its doors in November 2024. This bistro is infused with Asian elements and is inspired by the casual stands found in Pai, a charming town in northern Thailand. I visited on a Friday for lunch, and about half of the seats were already occupied, giving off a trendy vibe with stylish patrons. I ordered the Gapao Rice, which features coarsely ground chicken seasoned with a sauce made from Thai soybeans, black honey, and green chili peppers. The dish is packed with a perfect balance of sweetness, spiciness, and richness. A separate serving of Nuoc Cham sauce is provided for a flavor twist. The dish is elegantly presented and delicious, though the portion size is a bit small for the price. Considering Koenji still has many affordable and tasty options, some improvements in this regard would be welcome.
