Tuisi Garden

Tuisi Garden is located in Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China. It was built between 1885 and 1887 during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. The garden was built by Ren Lansheng, a Qing Dynasty official, after he was dismissed from office and returned to his hometown. The name of the garden is derived from a passage in the Zuo Zhuan, which reads, "When Lin Fu served his lord, he thought of being loyal when he advanced, and of making amends when he retreated." Tuisi Garden consists of a residence, courtyard, and garden. The residence includes a gate hall, tea hall, main hall, and two small buildings for family members. The courtyard is a natural transition between the residence and the garden, and is mainly used for entertaining guests.
