The old houses were well preserved, and some were converted into cultural and creative shops and small cafes, blending the old-fashioned flavor with a modern feel. Walking on the cobblestone road, with rows of red brick buildings on both sides, it feels like traveling back to old Taipei in a second. Even the air has a faint scent of grass and old wood. After walking around for a while, I decided to find a teahouse to sit down and rest. South Street is home to antique buildings and the teahouse is filled with nostalgic furniture. Try smelling the tea in the scent bottle before deciding which one to drink. I ordered a pot of Wenshan Baozhong, which has a clear aroma and a long-lasting sweetness. While drinking and chatting, time seemed to slow down. That time of sitting quietly and doing nothing is really healing. After finishing the tea, I felt refreshed and continued walking towards Xiahai City God Temple. The incense is still very popular, and people seeking marriage partners come in waves. Unexpectedly, I saw a man leading a...pig at the temple gate? You are not mistaken, it is a real pig, wearing a leash and following its owner for a walk obediently. All passers-by stopped to take photos, and the atmosphere was extremely joyful.
