The famous temple featured in the movie Monga

#taipeiattractions Mengjia Longshan Temple is one of Taipei’s most revered and architecturally ornate religious sites. It was also featured in the 2010 Taiwanese gangster film Monga. Located in the historic Wanhua District—formerly known as Mengjia—the temple was originally built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian, China, as a place of worship and community gathering. It honors Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, but also houses altars dedicated to a variety of Buddhist, Taoist, and folk deities, including Mazu and Guan Yu, reflecting Taiwan’s syncretic religious culture. Though damaged multiple times by earthquakes and wartime bombings, the temple has been meticulously restored, with much of its current structure dating from the early 20th century. Open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and easily accessible via the nearby Longshan Temple MRT Station.
