Green Island Gongguan Fishing Port|A quiet coastal secret place, exploring the intersection of history and nature

📍 Location Gongguan Village, Lvdao Township, Taitung County 🕒 Opening hours Open 24/7 🎟️ Ticket Information Free admission ⸻ 🚗 Transportation • Driving by yourself: Starting from Green Island Nanliao Fishing Port, drive clockwise along the ring road for about 10 minutes to reach Gongguan Fishing Port. • Public Transportation: There is no public transportation on Green Island, so it is recommended to rent a scooter or bicycle to get there. ⸻ 📝 Personal experience Gongguan Fishing Port is located in Gongguan Village in the northeast corner of Green Island. It was built in 1984 and was originally a second-class fishing port built to improve the lives of residents in remote areas. Due to the lack of registered vessels for many years and extremely low usage rate, the port is currently not accepting new vessel applications to register. The port facilities include breakwaters, piers, towways and a small fish market, and are now mostly used by recreational boat operators as warehouses for marine recreational equipment. The surrounding environment of Gongguan Fishing Port is quiet and the sea water is clear, which is suitable for snorkeling practice. There is a rich intertidal coast next to the port. Walking along the breakwater to the open sea, you can see a small hill of rocks called Gongguanbi. In addition, Gongguan Fishing Port is close to the Green Island Human Rights Memorial Park. The Oasis Villa in the park was a training prison for political prisoners in the past. It is now part of the National Human Rights Museum, reminding people to reflect on history and cherish freedom. Tourists are advised to visit in the early morning or evening to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sea and sky and feel the tranquility and historical atmosphere of Green Island. If you have enough time, you can visit the Green Island Human Rights Memorial Park to learn more about Taiwan’s history and human rights development. #AprilGoodDestinations2025 #OulangruiTravelDiary #TaiwanIn-depthTravel
