The "Ascension Picture" makes people stunned. Just a few strokes make the gods, ghosts and strange beasts come alive. There is reason to doubt whether the painter has seen the truth of the other world. After returning home, I read Chen Danqing's "Feast of Lines" and gained even more respect for the painter. According to his physical experience as a painter, the murals in the entire tomb should be the work of the same person. The mural is over 330 square meters, with more than 200 characters of various kinds, and people, cows, and horses are painted in high proportions. Imagine the painter working alone here, painting a work that will be sealed up after completion, and there is no possibility of it being recorded in history. Whether out of love or dedication, what he finally created is an extremely peculiar world on the wall, allowing us to see that paintings from more than a thousand years ago actually have another possibility of expression. The faces are obviously so similar, but upon closer inspection, they are different portraits of the Northern Qi people. I wonder if the painter's own face is hidden in them. I really hope so.
