DAY 7: In the blink of an eye, a week has passed in the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Some parts of the body have started to feel "fatigue memory" from daily cycling. Today, we are challenging the first "difficult place" of the 88th Buddhist temple. As the saying goes: Nothing is difficult after passing through Yamazan Temple. This temple is the second highest (800 meters) and has a long history. It has completely preserved the road signs from the Edo and Meiji periods. Starting from the 11th Fujiidera, it takes an average of 5-6 hours to hike. After paying homage, you have to walk another 22.7 kilometers to the 13th Daiinichi Temple, which also takes 5-6 hours to hike. Even riding a bicycle up the mountain requires a lot of physical strength and endurance. The restaurant at Yayoyama-ji Temple provides Inaya Udon at noon. A bowl costs 200 yen, so that pilgrims can fill their stomachs. The soup is light and the noodles are chewy. Even though I am starving, I can feel both spiritual peace and physical satisfaction.
