The National Museum of Western Art.

The National Museum of Western Art (国立西洋美術館) is located in Ueno Park, Tokyo, Japan. It was established in April 1959 and is based on the Impressionist paintings and sculptures of Auguste Rodin collected by Yukijiro Matsukata and donated by the French government. It is open to the public for the exhibition of Western art works. As the only national art museum in Japan that covers the complete system of Western art, the National Museum of Western Art is centered on exhibition business and is committed to the collection and sorting of Western art-related works and materials, investigation and research, preservation and restoration, education and popularization, and publication activities. The National Museum of Western Art has permanent exhibitions in the main hall (designed by Le Corbusier, 1959) and the new hall (designed by Kuniomi Maekawa, 1979), including the core Matsukata collection of the museum, as well as works purchased, donated, and hosted since the establishment of the museum from the Renaissance to the early 20th century. In addition, the National Museum of Western Art cooperates with newspapers and other institutions to hold about three planned exhibitions in the planned exhibition hall every year, mainly displaying works borrowed from art museums in Europe and the United States, and is committed to widely introducing Western art.
