Fuji at Kameido Tenjin Shrine

#TokyoTrip2024 This shrine enshrines Sugawara no Michizane (Tenjin), the god of learning. In 1662, a descendant of the Sugawara clan, Sugawara Otorii Nobusuke, invited the shrine to be built from Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Kyushu, and the entire structure of the shrine grounds, including the topography, shrine building, tower gate, and drum bridge, were modeled after the Dazaifu shrine. Since then, it has been called Kameido Saifu Tenmangu Shrine, and has been deeply revered by both the government and people, and is also touted as a scenic spot for leisure trips. It has flourished with constant foot traffic, and is the center of Kanto Tenjin faith as the source of faith among the common people of Edo. Plum blossoms and wisteria in spring, chrysanthemums in autumn - the colors of the four seasons make it truly worthy of being called the "Tenjin of Flowers."
