Scene from Your Name—The National Art Center, Tokyo

The last time I visited Tokyo, the most profound stop was definitely the Tokyo National Museum of Art in Roppongi. From the outside to the inside, the gallery exudes a minimalist and shocking aura, with large glass curtain walls introducing natural light and making every corner look like a breathing painting. Opened in 2007, it is the only national museum in Japan that does not have a permanent collection and specializes in corporate exhibitions. Designed by world-renowned architect Kisho Kurokawa, the entire building is based on the concept of "a museum in the forest". The exterior walls are made of more than 20,000 pieces of glass to create a wavy curved surface. The moment I entered the venue I couldn't help but keep taking pictures, not only because the exhibits are beautiful, but the whole building itself is already a work of art. Remember the scene in Your Name where Saki and Mitsuha passed each other in front of the exhibition hall? It was shot right here and it felt fantastic live. This time I came just in time to coincide with the solo exhibition "Wave in Vacuum" by Japanese artist Shinji Omaki. The happiest thing is that the admission is free. The whole exhibition plays with light, shadow and space. After watching it, my brain is full of creative desire. After the visit I sat for a while in the café inside the pavilion, ordered a cup of coffee and a dessert, and looked out the window at the sun shining down. I was so chill, as if art was slowly seeping into life. This place is really quite suitable for a person to walk slowly and feel, very quiet and comfortable, after the walk the whole person resets.
