Trakai Castle: A Fairytale Fortress Amidst History and Water

Built in the 14th century, it shares architectural similarities with the impressive Malbork Castle, both constructed in the Gothic style by the Teutonic Knights. Trakai’s red brick walls and towers reflect the turbulent history between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Teutonic Order, making it a site of both beauty and historical significance. Visiting in July, despite the crowds, was a wonderful experience. The strong breeze across the lake added a refreshing touch as we enjoyed the sight of the shimmering water surrounding the castle, enhancing its magical appearance. Its strategic yet serene location, surrounded by water, truly sets Trakai Castle apart as one of Europe’s most captivating fortresses.
