Known as "Fuji of the West, Tsukuba of the East," it is the only mountain in the Kanto Plain included in Japan's 100 Famous Mountains and is the lowest among them. - Almost the entire area of Mount Tsukuba is designated as part of the Suigo-Tsukuba Quasi-National Park, home to endemic flowers and rare species unique to the mountain. Fire and collection are strictly prohibited. - Tsukuba Shrine has over 3,000 years of history as a sacred site, with Mount Tsukuba itself as the object of worship. The deities enshrined are Tsukuba Male Deity Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Tsukuba Female Deity Izanami-no-Mikoto. - The steep cable car and ropeway leading to the summit offer breathtaking views. - Hiking trails are available for those seeking a more adventurous experience. The summit connecting trail between Nantai-san and Nyotai-san takes about 15 minutes. - Tsukuba Plum Grove is a highlight of the Tsukuba Geopark area, featuring approximately 1,000 white and red plum trees spread across the slopes. - At the top of the plum grove is the "Observation Azumaya," offering panoramic views of the entire grove, the rural landscape below, the streets of the academic city, and on clear days, distant views of Mount Fuji and Tokyo Skytree.
