University Women's Club of Vancouver

The University Women's Club of Vancouver (UWCV), established in 1907, is a landmark in Vancouver's contemporary history, playing a crucial role in advancing the status of women for over a century. The club's founder, Evelyn Fernwick Farris, firmly believed that women and men should have equal access to education and worked tirelessly towards this goal. She actively promoted the establishment of the University of British Columbia and served as a board member. Today, UWCV, also known locally as Hycroft mansion, is a popular venue for weddings and private gatherings, and is one of the few buildings in Vancouver that retains an old European style.
