[Thailand-Laos: Crossing the border by train]

There are several borders between Thailand and Laos. Of these, the only point where you can enter and leave the country by train is the point connecting Nong Khai in Thailand and Vientiane in Laos. When crossing the border from Thailand to Laos, you first get your passport stamped for departure procedures on the platform in Nong Khai, then board the train, which then crosses the Mekong River and reaches Vientiane station in Laos.
