There are several Konpira shrines on Rishiri Island, and the one in Izumimachi is the oldest. There is no resident priest, and the locals only come here to cut grass, so weasels live here freely. It seems that the shrine has a burrow that has been used for generations. From summer to autumn, weasels go out more often to prepare for winter. They go out not only around the shrine but also to the beach in front of it in search of food.
