Wētā Workshop in New Zealand

The Wētā workshop is an experience that guides you through how many props have been made for various films including Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. The workshop is situated just outside the CBD of Wellington and it is very easy to get transport there. It is open from 9–5 and costs 70NZD to enter. The tour starts with an introduction from the guides and last for 1.5 hours which includes videos and explanations of how props are made. No photography is allowed in the main area of the workshop. The tour ends at the gift shop which is expansive and has lots of different film related merchandise on offer. The unique aspect of the workshop is the ties to the owners who seem to be involved in the workshop today. There is an exciting feel to the place as the tour guides are passionate about the movies and the props too.
