Exploring Kura Sushi in Chiayi

Back in Taiwan, I visited Kura Sushi, where my cousin happens to work. Thanks to her, we enjoyed some discounts and had the chance to try this newly opened restaurant. It features a convenient private parking lot with free parking for up to two hours. The plate recycling system is quite unique—after finishing five plates, you can insert them into the cleaning slot and get a chance to win a capsule toy. Besides sushi, the menu includes fried items, main dishes, and some excellent desserts. The ingredients are fairly fresh, and the flavors of the seared sushi options—teriyaki salmon, smoked salmon, and mentaiko salmon—are decent, though the sauces can feel a bit heavy. The smoked salmon sushi has a semi-raw texture with a subtle smoky flavor. The seared unagi sushi is fresh with a chewy texture, while the seared pork belly with cheese is not overly greasy and has a hint of milky aroma without any fishy taste. For eel lovers, the premium seared unagi sushi is a treat, offering firm and flavorful eel. The medium-fatty tuna is tender and fresh, and even the inari sushi is better than many other sushi restaurants. Among the beef sushi options, the truffle cream cheese beef sushi is too rich, but the wagyu sushi is less greasy and has a milky aroma. The fried sushi items are also tasty, with crispy and fragrant textures. The tempura shrimp is particularly delightful—crispy, aromatic, and reasonably priced, as they are freshly fried. The crab meat and salmon roe chawanmushi is smooth and tender, while the miso ramen is a bit salty; for a lighter option, the inari udon is recommended. For dessert, the caramel French brick is a standout. Overall, the ingredients are decent, and the flavors are quite satisfying!
