During the Dragon Boat Festival, consider visiting Gude Temple in Wuhan, Hubei, to immerse yourself in its unique tranquility and solemnity. Gude Temple is the only Han Chinese Buddhist temple that blends traditional Chinese culture with architectural styles from Ananda Temple in Myanmar and Parnava architecture in India, resembling an exotic castle hidden within the city. The temple's architecture is exquisite. The Yuan Tong Hall adopts a "tower above, hall below" design, with nine towers on the roof inspired by Myanmar's Ananda Temple. The column capitals are Ionic, while the pointed archways and rose windows reflect Gothic style. The carvings of lion heads and elephants on the walls showcase Indian Parnava influences, making it a treasure trove of architectural art. The Heavenly King Hall, on the other hand, features traditional Chinese architecture, while the Four-Faced Buddha exudes the characteristics of Southeast Asian Theravada Buddhism. Start your visit at the Heavenly King Hall to appreciate the solemnity of traditional Chinese architecture. Then, step into the Yuan Tong Hall to admire its unique architectural style.
