Medieval castle of Wurzburg

#summerdream Marienberg Castle is located on a hill by the Main River on the west side of Wurzburg. Since it is on a hill, if you want to walk across the bridge from the old town, you have to walk up the hill again. It takes quite a while. But there is a parking lot here. For those who rent a car, it is very convenient to stop by. As for the entrance fee, if you just walk around the castle in the central courtyard and the surrounding gardens, it is free. But if you want to see the inside, you have to buy a ticket with a guide to take you around. But when we went, there was no English-speaking guide. The tour was all in German, so we just wanted to see around for free. The castle was built around the 8th century as a small fortress. Then, the Marienkapelle Church, which is a circular structure, was built. It is considered the oldest church in southern Germany. The castle itself was built around the 12th century. In addition to the inside of the castle walls, the flower garden on the side is also very beautifully arranged. Moreover, the outer walls offer a clear view of the Main River and the old town on the opposite side. It is a place where anyone who wants a panoramic view of the city must come.
