Huishan Temple, Jiangsu

Huishan Temple was built in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. It was originally the "Lishan Cottage" of Zhan Ting, the right minister of the Southern Dynasty Liu Song. In the first year of Jingping in the Liu Song Dynasty, the cottage was converted into a monk's house, called "Huashan Jingshe". In the third year of Datong in the Liang Dynasty, Huashan Jingshe was changed to Huishan Temple. The ancient relics preserved in the temple include: Tang and Song stone sutra pillars, Vajra Hall, Xianghua Bridge, Sun and Moon Pool, Jinlian Bridge, Jinlian Pool, Yubei Pavilion, Ting Song Stone Bed, Ancient Ginkgo Tree, Datong Hall, Zhulu Mountain House, Yunqi Building, etc. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, Huishan Temple was very popular, and the temple area included Yugu Valley and Jichang Garden, with as many as 1,098 monk houses.
