Shaanxi Archaeological Museum is worth a visit

If you can't get a reservation for the Shaanxi History Museum in Xi'an (it's almost impossible to get a reservation during peak season), I recommend the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum as an alternative. It's also free and requires a reservation, but it's much easier to get a reservation. The museum has a rich collection, a large space, and fewer people. It's just a bit far from Gulou Road, and you'll need to take a taxi after a 40-minute subway ride. Be sure to hire a guide. If you visit on your own, you may not understand the exhibits or find the museum's treasures. If you take your time, you'll need at least 2 hours. There are no restaurants inside, only snack vending machines. You can't eat while visiting. The guide will tell you how to determine if there is a large tomb underground by digging a shovel of soil.
